AI Workshop Bike Mechanic

I was at an AI workshop with Forall. He had come by car as part of a speaking tour, and had brought his bike.

He took the bike to be looked at by a bike mechanic in town. A few days later, he went to pick it up, and I happened to come along for the ride.

It took some significant time to pick up the bike, as a long and complicated interaction was needed with the mechanic, concerning various things that he refused to fix, and various things that he had fixed, but in the end we were getting along really well.

Afterwards, Forall said: “That went much better than last time. Last time I tried to get in and out quickly, and it was just impossible. This time I did it his way, and that was better.”

The first time he rode the bike, it fell apart in a very dangerous way. The brake pads, which the mechanic had replaced, fell out while Forall was riding down a hill. He jumped off the bike and somehow was uninjured.

Forall said: “Don’t trust that mechanic!”
