To not destroy life is the beginning of the Path

In the 12th year of training at the Monastic Academy for the Preservation of Life on Earth, I was on a call with Forall to rework a bio I had written on him. It was intended to help set up speaking engagements and meetings between Forall and technologists on the West Coast.

I had written: “Soryu Forall is a master meditation teacher and spiritual guide dedicated to awakening for the benefit of all beings.”

He said: “I am dedicated to bringing all beings to enlightenment. I teach that ethical behavior is the beginning of the path, and that the first step in ethics is to abstain from destroying life on Earth.

“I have been committed to this simple goal since the age of four—people should know that, because it is difficult to become an expert in this field without decades of study.”
