During the winter of 2023, the MAPLE community was receiving lectures on the Buddha Dharma from Forall. These lectures were mostly about Buddhism, but at times would connect to the planetary situation humanity and all beings on Earth find ourselves in.
There was one lecture in particular that Forall referred to the Global System that was destroying the planet as a suicide cult. After hearing the claim, there was a deep fear and stark anger pulsating in my body. “How could I have not seen this sooner?” I thought.
Forall further elaborated. The global economic system knows it’s committing worldwide, planet-scale genocide, and knows that this path, if taken far enough, leads to the extinction of humanity and the destruction of all life on Earth. Very simply, this system is suicidal.
